Six places in North Brabant to go winter camping: A unique adventure
Have you discovered winter camping already? It is an exciting and unique experience. Nature has gone into a deep sleep and, at the campsite itself, you can enjoy the silence around you. Go there in your motorhome or hammer those tent pegs into the cold ground. And then warm up wonderfully by a campfire or cuddle up together in your sleeping bag.
North Brabant has many beautiful campsites that will welcome you in the winter months as well. Whether you are an experienced campsite visitor or a beginner, these handy tips will at least prepare you before you set off.
1. Charme Camping Hartje Groen
You can take your own tent to Charme Camping Hartje Groen in Schaijk or you can rent one of the tiny houses or the special cabin Anna. Cooking can be done in the shared family room or go basic and cook above an open fire. You can walk straight from the campsite into the Maashorst nature reserve, the largest continuous nature reserve in North Brabant. North Brabant’s capital city ‘s-Hertogenbosch is half an hour away by car.
2. The Barendonk Estate
Nature and culture are in tune on the friendly and authentic family estate Barendonk in Beers. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings in the Land van Cuijk as well as the peace and quiet there. Stay overnight in your own tent on the nature camping grounds or in one of the cabins. In the winter, you are allowed to have a campfire by your own tent. Be sure to look in on the estate’s cows or visit the nearby city of Grave, a beautiful historic fortified city.
3. De Kleine Abtshoeve
Nature campsite De Kleine Abtshoeve in Teteringen is open all year round. The toilet block on this car-free campsite has underfloor heating and the charming restaurant is open in the winter as well. The campsite is on the outskirts of the Vughtpolder nature reserve and the Vrachelse Heide nature reserve. A beautiful wooded area with many authentic farms. By bicycle it will take you about half an hour to get from the campsite to Oosterhout or Breda.

- Bring warm clothing with you, such as thermal clothing and hats and gloves. You lose the most heat from your head.
- Respect nature. Do not leave garbage behind and avoid disturbing animals and plants.
