7 dog-friendly accommodations and dog off-lead areas in North Brabant
A weekend away is not complete without your faithful four-legged friend. Which is why, while on holiday in North Brabant, you simply take him with you. Let your dog run about in off-lead areas and enjoy a comfortable stay together at one of the dog-friendly hotels and holiday parks. We list the seven nicest accommodations and nature reserves for dogs.
In the nature reserves mentioned, keep an eye on the signs. In some parts, you must put your dog on a lead.
1. Herperduin Holiday Park – Herperduin Woodland
A paradise for your dog
A paradise for your dog
Herperduin Holiday Park is an attractive family park where your dog can have a great time too! Stay overnight in a cosy bungalow, an adventurous safari tent or come in your own motorhome. Your dog must be kept on a lead at the holiday park, but in the Herperduin Woodland – part of De Maashorst nature reserve – your four-legged friend can run free in the designated off-lead areas. If your dog likes swimming, the Klompven (recreational lake) – right behind the holiday park – is a paradise for your dog, which means it is for you too!
2. HUP Hotel – Strabrechtse Heide
A hotel with a ‘Dogs rule’ package – it doesn’t get any better for a weekend away with your dog! HUP is the sportiest hotel in the Netherlands, located in Mierlo, a wooded area near Eindhoven. Here, dogs are allowed in the hotel lobby, Sports Bar and, of course, in your hotel room. If you have not had enough exercise, the beautiful Strabrechtse Heide is just a fifteen-minute drive from HUP. On the Leende Drifting Sand Route, which covers 2.6 kilometres, your dog is allowed to run off lead!
3. Recreational Park Duinhoeve – Loon and Drunen Dunes
You can experience genuine Brabant hospitality for yourself and your dog at Recreational Park Duinhoeve in Udenhout. You can pitch your tent here or choose for the more luxurious glamping in a chalet or cool safari tent. This pet-friendly recreational park borders on the Loon and Drunen Dunes National Park, an especially dog-friendly nature reserve where you will find two off-lead routes and a large off-lead area. Dogs just love the ‘Brabant Sahara’ with its countless sand dunes and sandy areas that make it one big party. The off-lead area is only a ten-minute walk from the park. Moreover, your dog can enjoy a swim here in the small pond.
4. De Kempervennen – Leenderbos
Coniferous forests, heathland and sand flats

If you are looking for a nice holiday home that will welcome your dog, the cottages at Center Parcs de Kempervennen in Westerhoven allow two pets. In the park itself, dogs must be on a lead, but by the lakes in the park they can run free. From Westerhoven, just south of Eindhoven, you can get to Leenderbos in no time. It is a vast nature reserve with coniferous forests, heathland and sand flats. At the Molenheide off-lead area, dogs have complete freedom!
5. Charme Camping Hartje Groen – De Maashorst
Hidden in the woods, right in the centre of De Maashorst nature reserve, lies Charme Camping Hartje Groen. The name says it all: you stay here in an oasis of tranquillity. You can choose from several types of accommodation where your dog is welcome. Stay in one of the pet-friendly Tiny Houses at the campsite or enjoy a unique stay in Cabin ANNA in the Holenbergbos woods. Starting at this campsite in Schaijk, you and your four-legged friend can brave the unspoilt countryside of the ancient woods of De Maashorst, where there are at least nine off-lead areas to be found.
6. Hotel Nassau – Mastbos

Do you like to take your dog with you, but in addition to nature, do you also love the atmosphere and luxury of a city? An amazing hotel experience is waiting for you at Hotel Nassau Breda! Together with your faithful four-legged friend, allow yourself the luxury of pampering yourself in this listed building, located on one of the oldest streets of Breda. Dogs are permitted in the hotel rooms and the public areas of the hotel but not in the restaurant or bar. Breda’s city centre lies at your feet but a short ten-minute drive from the hotel will put you in the centre of the Mastbos. A four-kilometre off-lead route has been set out here especially for dogs. Follow the blue signs with a dog’s head and you will soon arrive at the dog pond where your four-legged friend can have a swim!
7. Camping de Paal – TerSpegelt nature gate
The best five-star campsite in the Netherlands can be found in Bergeijk in Brabant. At Camping de Paal, you and your dog can enjoy a fantastic holiday filled with adventure. There is plenty to do at the park itself, ranging from a subtropical indoor swimming pool and petting zoo to a bicycle motocross track and a good restaurant. Nor will your dog get bored. Leave the park, following the Paaldreef toward a 1.5-kilometre off-lead walking route with play equipment. If you would like to explore more of the surrounding area, go explore the Brabant Kempen. TerSpegelt nature gate is a good starting point for following the Eersel Off-lead Walking Route.
