Because perspectives other than just that of the conquerors are highlighted, you are presented with a unique story. Allow yourself to be carried away by actual diary fragments and personal stories from that period, after which you can draw your own conclusions. From the perspective of the Netherlands, the conquest of the city by State troops in 1629 was a huge success. Frederik Hendrik liberated the city from Spanish control, which for the Netherlands meant that the south lay open. But, for residents of Den Bosch (and of the Meierij), it was not a liberation at all. They were no longer allowed to profess their Catholic faith, which was followed by oppression and exploitation.
The “enthusiastic guides” in the museum relate this historic nuance with passion. In addition to the (somewhat) older visitors, the wheelchair-friendly museum welcomes increasingly more young families with children. The colouring pictures are very popular. In any case, we can recommend Museum Kruithuis to everyone with a healthy interest in history because it offers the entire story – from 1629 up until and now and then back again.

Grand Café 1629
At this unique historic location on the outskirts of the city, Grand Café 1629 allows you to enjoy organic products, preferably from the region. In this way the catering facility fits in perfectly with the sustainability ambitions that had already become obvious during the renovation of the beautiful building.
