Allowing as many people as possible to enjoy the baker’s craft, just as he himself does every day. This is the objective of Robèrt van Beckhoven, the only baker in the Netherlands with the titles Master Pastry Chef and Master Bread Baker. His profession is the most delicious one in the world. Experience this for yourself by visiting the bakery, situated in a monumental building on the KVL grounds in Oisterwijk. This visit is ideal for combining with a visit to the attractive city centre or a walk through the Oisterwijk Forests and Fens nature reserve.

Robèrt and his team demonstrate the versatility of the baker’s profession in the open bakery. Literally, because a 40-metre-long glass walkway provides a view of how all the products – from bread, pastries and chocolate to sweets and ice cream – are made in a traditional manner. You will quickly want to take a bolus (a sweet pastry), sausage rolls or cakes home – thank goodness the shop with its well-stocked shelves is at the end of the walkway.
Enjoy cakes, high tea and lunch
For those who would rather go straight to the baker himself, you must cross the pathway to get to Robèrt’s lunchroom: De Kazerne. This attractive building is literally and figuratively an extension of the bakery. It is here that Robèrt’s team pampers the guests with coffee and cakes, high teas and various lunch dishes – all of it fresh from the ovens and served with Brabant hospitality.
Baking courses in Robèrt’s Baking Academy
If you would rather take matters into your own hands, Robèrt’s baking academy is the place to go. This modern studio, located above the bakery, is where a team of instructors teach the tricks of the trade to home bakers using various baking courses: from making bread to pastries and everything in between. There are also options and package deals for private parties or company outings. Ready? Get baking!
