A unique nature reserve
The many routes through the area are especially popular with riders, hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers, and the nicely located forest café is the ideal base for exploring the unique Oisterwijk forests and fens. Dating back to the last ice age, the fens are home to unique water plants and are the breeding and resting grounds for various species of bird, including grebes, cormorants, tufted ducks and teals. Every season is just as special and different as the last. In the autumn months you can go on a mushroom safari, while springtime offers the opportunity to enjoy nature as it comes back to life. Who knows? Maybe you'll even spot a young deer!
Honest food
The dishes on the menu at Boshuis Venkraai will probably remind you of what your grandmother used to cook. In the winter months you can enjoy pea soup with Brabant rye bread and bacon, sample a tasty home-made meatball in sauce or order 'Boswachters Panneke', a warm snack with farmhouse bread. The café is also available for parties and get-togethers, just ask the multilingual staff (German and English).
By bike, by foot or on horseback?
With a car park just 400 metres away, Venkraai is easily accessed by car, plus Oisterwijk station is no more than five kilometres away. You can even tether your horse next to the terrace...
