Restaurant and bicycle café De Kogelvanger is the ideal base for exploring Breda’s luscious green environment. Just across from the restaurant, you can walk or cycle into the Mastbos forest, where you can encounter a huge variety of plant and animal species. Following the Experience Nature route, it is possible to spot roe deer, birds of prey, white egrets and other wild animals. Or take the Vlonderpad, a walkway made of wooden planks, to explore the heathland of Galderse Heide.
De Kogelvanger is easily accessible, refreshing and informal, which makes for a large diversity in guests. Even faithful four-footed companions find their way here a little too well, as attested to by this response: “If I walk past De Kogelvanger with my dog, I’m not allowed to simply pass it by. My dog knows that he will get a doggy biscuit here (and there is always fresh water, too).”

Whether you have explored the area on your bicycle or have gazed in awe at the beauty of nature along the seven-kilometre-long Experience Nature route, once you are ready to sit down, De Kogelvanger will always have something delicious ready for you to eat. The restaurant distinguishes itself with its extensive lunch menu, home-made apple pie and various set meals. How would you feel about a Lunch with Friends, a Mastbos Lunch, or a High Wine or High Tea? You could also choose the Sharing Lunch, meant for groups and larger parties.
All of these can be enjoyed in the hospitable interior or (almost throughout the entire year) under the stretch tent on the outdoor terrace. And, naturally, while you recharge for a possible continuation of your journey, you can recharge your electric bicycle as well.
Accessibility
De Kogelvanger offers free parking on its own premises. Monday is an exception, however, since that is the day that the multi-lingual staff has off. The rest of the week, however, you are more than welcome between 9:00 and 18:00. Note: the kitchen – and the possibility of lunching – closes daily at 17:30.
