After almost 150 years, the Catholic Willibrorduskerk (church) closed its doors in 2013 to be resurrected two years later as a prize-winning local restaurant. Here, you can enjoy the most delicious Brabant dishes in a friendly atmosphere that is perhaps unique but certainly unprecedented. It is ideal to combine with a day at theme park Efteling, a lovely trip through the Biesbosch or along the Zuiderwaterlinie (southern water line), close to lovely Breda. If you are looking for a wonderful experience in a socially inclusive setting, then we highly recommend the hospitable Onze Kerk. Or as a previous guest said, ‘The staff are exceptionally nice and attentive, the food is heavenly and plentiful, all in a wonderful ambiance.’

Local and delicious
The social inclusivity at Onze Kerk is not only obvious from the CSR prize it has won, but the hospitality in this exceptional location is also very low threshold. Literally, in fact, as the entire restaurant is wheelchair accessible. Furthermore, Onze Kerk has made it its mission to make local and tasty food accessible with a simple, delicious concept. By combining the best of the season with the best of the region, there’s always something tasty on the menu. What stands out is that the carefully compiled dishes are clearly meant to be shared with your table companions. And those dishes are delicious, not surprising really considering the 12 Gault&Millau chef’s hats.

Wonderful after a cycling trip or walk
Hooge Zwaluwe and surrounding area has numerous walking and cycling routes. Some may even take you past the fields and farms that supply produce to the friendly restaurant! Now that’s what we call local and seasonal food. Crowned as one of Brabant’s Best (for innovative entrepreneurs), Onze Kerk also received the Pieter van Vollenhoven restoration award due to the impressive restoration of the monument. That is probably one of the reasons that the restaurant regularly welcomes cyclists and walkers, because it is actually a sin to pass Onze Kerk without stopping.
