In the 19th century, the Schimmelse or Woenselse Watermolen was the largest watermill in the area. Corn was ground, oil was pressed, and wool processed in this mill. In 1867, a flour mill was added with a steam machine to rotate the mill. The mill was (illegally) demolished in 1955 to make way for Eindhoven university campus. There is now a sculpture commemorating the mill.
