The church in Vierlingbeek has a freestanding tower known as a ‘campanile’. There has been a stone church in Vierlingsbeek since the year 1000. Sadly, the original church was destroyed in 1944. The building owes its name to H. Laurentius and the fact that the church was dedicated to St. Laurentius suggests that the village had a church back in the seventh century – many old churches dedicated to St. Laurentius date from that time.
