Francine connects the powerful movements of the expressionist dancer Mary Wigman from the 1920s with our modern times. Together with the dance school of Ana Euson in T56 and masks made by children from group 7 of the primary school Wereldkidz in Maarsen, they are working on a work of art in which movements are visually translated into a 3D collage of texts, photos and drawings. The children have made a dance line game with charcoal to the 'Heksentanz' by Mary Wigman. These lines are still present in the mask and merge with the oriental dance into a spatial sketchbook. During the residency period, the work evolves daily and can be viewed in the gallery window until 9 May. An installation form of this research will be on display from May 17 to June 15, 2025 at Kunstvereniging Kunstliefde in Utrecht: ‘Eight conversations. Female artists in perspective’
