In the 1930’s, ‘Gipsy’ or ‘Manouche’ jazz originated as part of the Roma communities in Paris. This highly rhythmic style of music is a blend of French Musette, American jazz and swing, and gypsy music. It was the first style of jazz to emerge in Europe. Marca and her quartet have reintroduced vocals into the music to make Gipsy jazz more accessible to a larger and perhaps 'new' audience, who may prefer vocal music. Allowing them to discover and learn to appreciate this beautiful traditional style of music.
