This time, choreographers Barnaby Booth and the duo Lunatics & Poets take center stage. Barnaby is an award-winning choreographer and lighting designer. Lunatics & Poets connect various disciplines and initiate a diverse dialogue, earning multiple awards for their work.

With the annual ‘Club invites’, we ask dance makers with whom we feel related to create new work. In this fourth edition: a double bill with Barnaby Booth and Lunatics & Poets. 

Barnaby Booth | A Funny Little Show about Endings
Inspired by the happy endings in sitcoms such as Friends, Will & Grace and Seinfeld, choreographer Barnaby Booth takes A Funny Little Show about Endings to create a humorous dance performance with a Lynchain twist, in which dramatic characters meet their inner motivations.

Booth, a gifted lighting designer in addition to choreographer, previously collaborated with Club Guy & Roni’s Poetic Disasters Club for the performance Like a Prayer, shown at De Parade in 2023. The production received rave reviews from NRC and de Volkskrant, among others, and was even part of De Parade’s prestigious closing gala.

Lunatics & Poets | Village Storm
In Village Storm, Lunatics & Poets explore the world of desire. Instinctive desires rooted in human beings, but also desires arising from society that influence us. In our search for individuality, we actually seem to become more alike. Inspired by the collection A Village Life by Louise Glück and the theories of philosopher René Girard, Anna Jacobs and Hanna van der Meer present a cinematic portrait of the tension between animal instincts and human individuality, in sensitive and powerful dance language. Equally recognizable as confrontational.

Anna Jacobs and Hanna van der Meer are known for their impressive set and costume designs and cinematic imagery. For Club Invites 2022-23, they previously created the poetic collage performance Postcards from a Better Place.

De dancers in these performances are members of our Poetic Disasters Company – the junior company of Club Guy & Roni.
