Quiet Life is a stunning and gripping story about a real, unexplained condition, set in a clinical, slightly dystopian environment in Sweden. Natalia and Sergei, having fled violence in Russia, live in Sweden with their daughters Alina and Katja. When their application for permanent residency is denied, the youngest daughter falls into an inexplicable coma. And it is she who could have given testimony that might secure the family's future.
Since 2018, numerous children of asylum seekers in Sweden have fallen victim to the mysterious Resignation Syndrome. Hundreds of them remain unconscious in hospitals for years, leaving doctors and specialists baffled. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival and was well received by the international press, who described it as surprising and unsettling.
