About the performers

Accordion orchestra Veloce was founded in 2018 and is one of the newest accordion associations in the Netherlands. The idea for a new association had arisen two years earlier, when a group of enthusiastic and advanced accordionists decided to join forces.

Since their foundation, they have rehearsed once a month on Sundays in Zoetermeer. The association currently consists of about 20 players with a broad musical background, from all over the Netherlands, who would like to play music together at a high level.

The repertoire covers various styles, whereby the balance is always sought between arrangements and original works for accordion orchestra. They also regularly provide premieres of newly written arrangements and compositions. They give a concert about twice a year, in which collaboration is often sought with other music associations and soloists. The orchestra is also a participant almost every year at the NOVAM Orchestra Festival, which is organized in Hilversum.

Since its foundation, the orchestra has been led by Leo van Lierop.
