The exhibition With One Eye Open is an ode to photography in graffiti. From the photography that made it possible for graffiti to spread around the world to contemporary writers who consider photography as their final work. Both a look into the world hidden from many and some impressive photography projects. We show both some influential projects and those that have remained unknown to the general public. An international, national but also local line-up of photographers and graffiti writers.
Participating photographers and graffiti artists (or projects) include: Luke da Duke, RDJ, Martha Cooper, Potato and Onion, Ralph Roelse, Fuzi, Alex Fakso, NAWAS and Analog Delinquents and Jasper van Es.
The title ‘With One Eye Open’ has a double meaning: on the one hand, it refers to the way a photographer looks through the camera lens; on the other, it refers to the constant alertness required because of the risks present both during and after shooting.
