Passage of Liberation Task Force

As part of their liberation route through south-eastern Netherlands, a column of the Liberation Task Force with authentic British military vehicles will pass through Geldrop-Mierlo. During their stops at Strabrecht College and Molenplein, the vehicles can be viewed up close.

On Sunday, September 15th, the Liberation Task Force will pass through Geldrop and Mierlo during their commemorative tour through Belgium and the Netherlands. The tour starts in Leopoldsburg, Belgium, and the route, totaling approximately 160 km, will end in Bemmel. During their visit to Geldrop-Mierlo, stops are planned at the parking lot of Strabrecht College in Geldrop, at Molenplein in Mierlo, and at the British War Cemetery on Geldropseweg. Additional traffic measures will be taken for the stop at the British War Cemetery.

Routes 

The routes will travel in different convoys through Geldrop and Mierlo to reach the stop locations. For safety and traffic flow, the convoy is divided into smaller groups of about 20 vehicles, which will be escorted by certified traffic controllers.

The convoys that do not stop will travel via Bogardeind – Laan der Vier Heemskinderen – Dommeldalseweg - Johan Peijnenburgweg – Mierloseweg – Geldropseweg – Industrieweg – Tramweg – Nijverheidsweg - Brugstraat towards Helmond.

Present between 11:55 – 13:35.

The convoys that stop at Molenplein in Mierlo will travel via Bogardeind – Laan der Vier Heemskinderen - Dommeldalseweg – Mierloseweg – Geldropseweg - Burgemeester Verheugdstraat – Dorpsstraat – Molenplein – Marktstraat - Brugstraat towards Helmond. Present between 12:00 - 14:10.

At the detour route over Brugstraat, the vehicles will line up in groups of about 20 vehicles and will be allowed to pass on Brugstraat at intervals of a few minutes.

Historical Equipment

The vehicles are owned by enthusiasts who invest a lot of time, money, and effort in their maintenance and management. They, and many of their passengers, will be dressed in authentic uniforms and equipment in September, with commemoration as the central theme. It is definitely worth taking a look!
