Taste the silence
Probably the best illustration of an experience at La Trappe Trappist is this response: ‘The atmosphere is incredibly relaxed, and the staff are extremely friendly. […] The guided tour was led by a woman brimming with passion for the monastery and the brewery. After the guided tour we found a seat on the patio and drank some Trappist beers. The lady from the guided tour came over for a chat and asked if everything was to our liking. That kind of hospitality is unique nowadays!’
The brewery welcomes an extremely diverse public, and the wheelchair accessibility ensures that everyone over 18 can enjoy the passionate hospitality of the multi-lingual staff. The abbey shop sells as the Trappist beers as well as matching glasses and gift sets. And lest we forget, the Trappist cheeses, honey, biscuits, brewers’ grain bread, raisin bread and sausage loaf homemade by the brothers.
La Trappe Cycle routes
A visit to the brewery (online reservations mandatory) fits in perfectly with one of the world-famous La Trappe Cycle routes. The Red, Green, Blue and Purple routes take you through the stunning countryside around the abbey, with a lovely range of places to stop off at on the way. Although of course, the best spot is, and will always be, this sustainable brewery in Berkel-Enschot.
